.and virtually all the theological assumptions anchored on the premise that it did effectively go out the window.
Just to labour Vidiot's point a bit...
Here's the unassailable problem for the WT. It's bible chronology.
The WT absolutely did not make up the bible date of C 4026 BC for the "creation" of Adam, you can trace it in scripture. So, no matter how they fudge the length of creative days, they can't fudge bible chronology. They are stuck with it. Imagine if they tried, the whole house of cards collapses. It follows then that they have to maintain the creation of Adam myth and stick their chin out on that however much they give ground else where.
I think that this is the biggest foundational weakness in the whole Jenga pile. If you disprove that date then everything collapses. Jesus refers to a literal Adam, the ransom depends on a literal Adam, the web of dates and predictions depends on infallible bible chronology.
Then hot dang, we go and prove man was around to make cave paintings far too early, we find evidence of human existence way back when. The bible story collapses and WT doctrine cannot morph into an Armageddon threat free, date free religion. Without Adam, it just collapses.

It seems silly to talk about house to house work as if it was going on..... but do they?
I am in the position of having to sit through this stuff. There is absolutely no adjustment in content for the meetings, they are doing the same old demos and talks week after week after week. The instruction to invite kids to the stage when there are no stages highlights the lack of any flexibility.

You of course remember the fabulous chariot charging about, eyes everywhere, wheels within wheels. (Elon Musk be afraid). Yes, able to change direction instantly, react to any situation. Amazing.
Here's a quote, from the book Draw Close to Jehovah p 204-205, there are many more.
14 There is a remarkable Bible passage that helps us begin to grasp Jehovah’s adaptability. The prophet Ezekiel was given a vision of Jehovah’s heavenly organization of spirit creatures. He saw a chariot of awe-inspiring proportions, Jehovah’s own “vehicle” always under His control. Most interesting was the way that it moved. The giant wheels were four-sided and full of eyes so that they could see everywhere and could change direction instantly, without stopping or turning. And this gigantic chariot did not have to lumber along like an unwieldy, man-made vehicle. It could move at the speed of lightning, even making right-angled turns! (Ezekiel 1:1, 14-28) Yes, Jehovah’s organization, like the almighty Sovereign in control of it, is supremely adaptable, responsive to the ever-changing situations and needs it must address.
15 Humans can only try to imitate such perfect adaptability. So the chariot is charging around left, right, forward, back. unerring "supremely adaptable, responsive to the ever-changing situations".
Hang on though, there are no KH meetings anywhere in the world. There is no door to door witnessing anywhere in the world. There are no plans for either until probably next year. This situation has now been going on for months.
So, tonight's scheduled instructions, responding to the lighting movement of said chariot comes up with the following instructions for the meeting:-
- Afterward, invite selected young children, if available, to the stage, and ask them the questions about the video.
- Then pretend that the door to door work is carrying on as normal
Oh dear, no stage, no cute children to get on it. Let's move on.
OK, now let's pretend that the door to door work is carrying on as normal. Perhaps the zoomed out congregations won't notice as they haven't noticed, month after month that since since the beginning of lock down, no door to door.
- Initial Call Video: (4 min.) Discussion. Play the video, and then ask the following questions: How did the publisher respond to the householder’s objection? How might the publisher have introduced a publication from the Teaching Toolbox?
- Initial Call: (2 min. or less) Use the sample conversation. (th study 6)
- Initial Call: (3 min. or less) Begin with the sample conversation. Respond to a common objection. (th study 3)
- Initial Call: (3 min. or less) Begin with the sample conversation. Offer a study publication. (th study 12)
Perhaps they should take notice of the next paragraph from the book.
All too often, though, humans and their organizations are more rigid than adaptable, more unreasonable than yielding. To illustrate: A supertanker or a freight train might be awesome in terms of size and power. But can either one respond to sudden changes in circumstance? If an obstacle falls across the tracks in front of a freight train, turning is out of the question. Sudden stops are not much easier. A heavy freight train may take over a mile to stop after the brakes are applied! Similarly, a supertanker may coast onward for five miles (8 km) after the engines are shut off. Even if the engines are thrown into reverse, the tanker may still plow on for two miles (3 km)! It is similar with human organizations that are prone to rigidity and unreasonableness. Because of pride, men often refuse to adapt to changing needs and circumstances. Such rigidity has bankrupted corporations and even toppled governments. (Proverbs 16:18) How happy we can be that neither Jehovah nor his organization is anything like that!
Oh dear! Why did we make claims like that. I hope no-one notices.

Just to remind you, the recent court decision included a judgement about WT and freedom of speech something the organisation has long prided itself about.
Infosekta
Media release of July 8, 2020
7. TheWatchtower Organisation denies members the human right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion according to Article 18
Statement by the expert (Tages-Anzeiger)
"Furthermore, Article 18 states that everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, a right that the Watchtower Society claims for itself but does not grant its members."
Judgment of the court
By ostracizing members who no longer share the faith, they are implicitly denied freedom of faith and conscience (Proof of Good Faith).
Remarks of the court
"As stated above, a form of bullying is exerted when members of Jehovah's Witnesses no longer believe or develop a different faith. In that case, such people are excluded and ostracized, which is thought to encourage them to return to the community. Without the shared faith, they are no longer and/or can no longer be part of the community. Implicitly, therefore, they are denied freedom of faith and conscience within the community" (cf. acts 12/12/34, 12/12/2, 12/3 p. 55).
The news section of the JWdotOrg website has an item as follows: Bold highlights mine.
Jehovah’s Witnesses imprisoned for their faith as of July 2020
“The right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion” is a fundamental human right, according to Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. * In some lands, however, Jehovah’s Witnesses are denied this basic right and are unjustly jailed and even suffer cruel mistreatment. Most of those imprisoned were arrested merely for practicing their faith. Others are imprisoned for their conscientious objection to military service.107 people are listed as being imprisoned. This is of course a gross breach of their human rights.
The hypocrisy demonstrated here is breath taking. There is no mention in the legal developments section of their own humiliating reversal and tacit admittance of guilt in the field of human rights affecting millions of people world wide. It's hard to get your head around brass neck required to publish this stuff.

Did you enjoy some of these back then?
by Mandrake ini was bored to death this sunday, and suddenly i remembered that it could be worse if having to attend the public meeting on a sunday, even worse, not being assigned to the sound department, accomodating, being the mic guy, or reading the wt at the platform... then i realized that i hated just "attending" and sitting at meetings, those "privileges" were the only thing i enjoyed and made my last months inside bearable.... did you enjoy these assignments?

Car park duty, that was the gold card. For 20 minutes you could go outside in the fresh air, browse the internet on the KH wifi, or go out early and shoot the breeze with the previous assignee, shoot the breeze with the next one. The others on the same assignment were always ready for a chat about football, cars or any other common interest. Nobody was ever in a hurry to get back in. You could often spin it out to 50 minutes or an hour.
Still a complete waste of time but better than absorbing all the toxic material from the platform like an infected sponge.

So, now it's official. The only use for Kingdom Halls in England is for judicial committee hearings. Meetings? No. Groups? No. Field service meetings? No. Food distribution centres? Don't be silly. Community usage? Don't even ask. This is a direct quote from recent instructions to elders now in circulation.
* 12. Kingdom Halls: Regardless of direction from secular authorities, the Kingdom Hall should not be used for any meetings (except what is outlined in paragraph 18) until further direction is received from the branch office.
Such love! Only in Jehovah's loving organisation.
18. Judicial Matters: (Not Scotland and Wales) Judicial matters, including reinstatement hearings, may be handled at the Kingdom Hall. However, please note the following important points: -

Bringing Reproach on Jehovah's Name
by cofty inall my jw life i was reminded constantly about the importance of not bringing reproach on jehovah's name.
decisions on whether or not to disfellowship an individual often turned, not on the seriousness of the sin, but on whether the incident was public knowledge and had resulted in bad publicity for the congregation.
i recall a middle-aged lady being reported to the elders for shoplifting a sweet worth less than £1- and the elders' insistence that a judicial committee must be formed because the store manager and staff knew that she was a jw (i successfully argued that all she needed was support for her dreadful family life, but that's another story).

I can see them spending more in legal fees, fighting the government etc than they would have had to pay out in compensation.
The Methodist Church said in 2015,
"On behalf of the Methodist Church in Britain I want to express an unreserved apology for the failure of its current and earlier processes fully to protect children, young people and adults from physical and sexual abuse inflicted by some ministers in Full Connexion and members of the Methodist Church. That abuse has been inflicted by some Methodists on children, young people and adults is and will remain a deep source of grief and shame to the Church.
"We have not always listened properly to those abused or cared for them, and this is deeply regrettable. In respect of these things we have, as a Christian Church, clearly failed to live in ways that glorify God and honour Christ.
"I am certain that the Methodist Conference will want to resolve to do all in its power to improve its systems to protect children, young people and adults from abuse within the life of the Church and on Church premises, and to review them diligently on a regular basis."Now, that's more like it. An apology like that and then financial redress would start to heal the pain and restore the reputation of the religion.
